Carey was almost 5'10 tall when she became a high-end model. Her popularity with American designer Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was extremely high. Her father, an accomplished scientist who received the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists 1979 Scientist of the Year award is a highly respected scientist. Carey is a resident of across the globe as a result his career. While in college she started modeling in a part-time capacity and caught the eye of Ford model Agency representatives in New York. She lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. She then returned in New York for her college study and further to build her modeling career. Between modeling gigs, she was a full time student obtaining a major in literature at New York University. Following a few years she began to develop an interest in acting. She attended the Neighborhood Playhouse New York. The year 1986 was the year she had her first acting role as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She enjoys rock climbing as well as skiing and windsurfing.
