In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017, there were 19 mainly Spanish songs that were included in the top 100. In 2020, there were 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) famous artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton artists were complaining about the trend of the genre toward the mainstream. But a newer generation like Rauw Alejandro was keen to maintain the development. He incorporated electronic dance styles and other genres into his songs.
